Mark Dreyer is a former Sky Sports and Fox Sports reporter. Mark has been based in China since shortly before the 2008 Olympics, where he has worked with a number of media outlets, both domestic and international. A regular commentator and analyst on the booming Chinese sports industry, Mark is also in charge of marketing and communications at the American Chamber of Commerce in China. In this discussion we take a quick look back at the 2008 Olympic Games and the impact it has had on China; China’s performance in Tokyo and what Beijing can learn from it; performance expectations both for China’s athletes and the games themselves next year and what success might look like; and a break down of how China’s ‘cultural personality’ impacts the development of team sports vs individual sports, and which has a brighter future. Enjoy!
